About this blog
Hello and thanks for reading. This blog is run by the Pound Ridge Land Conservancy to communicate its 'Living Lighter on the Land' campaign which promotes lifestyles that reduce pressures on natural resources, imperiled wildlife habitat and ecological biodiversity. The campaign's focal point is the Armstrong House Education Center, a newly renovated off-the-grid home used to showcase 'green' energy, 'green' construction and a low impact lifestyle. In addition to the Armstrong house itself, the surrounding 43 acres are used for educational and demonstration purposes and include a hardwood forest, sugar bush (for producing maple syrup), a vernal pool, bee hives, a fruit orchard, an organic garden, a composting system and a chicken coop. With these valuable educational tools, we provide our community with resources (demonstrational, informational and inspirational) to live lighter on the land. This blog, written weekly by the Pound Ridge Land Conservancy's Land Steward/Educator, will provide a direct link between our actions and perspectives as they unfold at the Armstrong House Education Center and our web based audience.
